Staff UX designer for Data Pipelines technology focused on building V1 point-and-click UIs for deeply technical workflows for data ingestion, data exploration, and data transformation.

• Lakeflow Connect: Enabling Databricks users to bring in data from third-party platforms, such as Salesforce, SQL server, Workday, Google Analytics, and many more. I designed a point-and-click interface on top of a complex API to support users of all technical abilities. 
• Lakeflow Designer is an AI-first, point-and-click UI to perform data exploration and transformation without needing to know how to code in SQL.

JULY 2023-PRESENT

Lead UX designer for Tableau and Salesforce's Next Gen Analytics product.

NOVEMBER 2021 - JULY 2023

I led the design and integration of generative AI into Tableau products and Salesforce CRM workflows, creating engaging and insightful data visualizations based on user-generated queries. For example:

• Segment Intelligence: Integrating Tableau visualizations and GAI recommendations in Tableau and Data Cloud so that marketing researchers can create more targeted campaigns using Salesforce GPT to create useful Tableau visualizations.
• Tableau Einstein Copilot is a conversational AI assistant allowing users to visually explore their data and find insights faster. It automates data curation by generating calculations and metadata descriptions. And it follows best practices to help users create dashboards to act on their findings.

This team also focuses on experiences for the Data Professional and Data Business User such as Tableau Public, data modeling, and other improvements to the core data visualization experience.

May 2019 - NOVEMBER 2021

Senior UX Designer for Tableau Prep, Tableau’s data preparation product. My main focus was integrating Machine Learning into the ETL process. Some examples include:

• Integrating Salesforce Einstein (their CRM AI tool) into Prep to allow users to run a machine learning algorithm within the data preparation pipeline
• Improving the calculated fields tool
• Managing interns

JULY 2012 - AUG 2018

UX design for design systems and individual console teams: 

• Design for the new AWS design system now used by all teams at AWS. It covered the end-to-end design process for over 100 development teams across the management console, marketing, documentation, etc. This holistic system offers solutions from the deeper information architecture flows to individual UI patterns as coded components. The responsive layouts can be implemented across multiple frameworks so that teams can continue to develop in their preferred language.
• Amazon Pinpoint: giving marketers and developers one customizable tool to deliver customer communications across channels, segments, and campaigns at scale
• Amazon Mobile Hub: Dashboard and resource management for mobile app development and marketing campaign management
• Amazon Sagemaker: enabling users to build, train, and deploy machine learning models
• Amazon Comprehend: a NLP to extract insights about the content of documents
• AWS Developer Tools: Host code, build, test, and deploy your applications quickly and effectively
• Mentoring associate designers and interns

JUNE 2011 - JUNE 2012

Designed the interface and gamification for enabling community members to  submit edits to Google Maps based on their local knowledge.

Activities: Outdoors Club leading backpacking and kayaking trips around Washington,  DJ on our school radio station KUPS with 2 very different shows: a 10am Sunday morning jazz fusion show and a Thursday night 2-4am punk/metal/hip hop show.

Worked with professional Italian sculptors and industrial designers.
